A brief goodbye
New tax year, same problems.
A new tax year brings with it some hard truths. Chief amongst them is that, as a full time writer, I earn considerably less than what people would consider a pretty - or perhaps even comely - sum. I am not here to complain. Struggling to make ends meet is a burden nearly all creatives carry, regardless of their field. Some people even view it, incorrectly I might add, as a necessary right of passage.
Unfortunately, the last financial year was considerably worse than the year before and I am now in a position where, if I wish to continue working as a full time writer, some difficult decisions must be made. Shutting down Marra is one of these. I simply cannot afford to commit multiple unpaid hours a week to this project now or for the foreseeable future.
I’ve had a great time writing articles about Northern stories and issues. I hope you’ve all enjoyed reading them.

Thanks for the great articles Jacob. Shame they have to stop but we all need money to pay the rent. All the best with your new adventures.
Sorry to read this Jacob. 😞 You're such a a good writer....often when one door closes, another (better) door opens. We're thinking of you.
